We’re on the lookout for a QA Engineer here at Freestyle, so if you have an eye for detail and a passion for technology, read on.

 

 

The role.

As a QA Engineer you’ll be ultimately responsible for regulating our quality of work and ensuring that every product that leaves the Freestyle studio has been put through its paces and exceeds client expectations. You’ll work alongside our incredibly talented, and dedicated team to assess the quality of products and applications through both manual and automated testing.

From interrogating the UI to identifying bugs in the code, you’ll lead the department and function responsible for quality.
Whilst we’ll lean on you to improve and own our processes around QA, this is also a hands-on role responsible for finding and reporting bugs and glitches, so an exceptional eye for detail, a solid understanding of coding, development languages and processes, technology platforms as well as a hunger for continuous improvement will be key.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the QA function in a growing and evolving product studio, getting involved in an array of projects at all stages of the product life cycle and working with a bunch of fun, like minded people.

You'll be based in our rural offices near Leamington Spa, Warwickshire (currently fully remote due to COVID restrictions - part remote and home working options thereafter).

What the day to day might look like.

  • Input, collaborate and assist with defining and writing up functional requirements for our products. Support the review and analysis of system specifications.
  • Prepare test planning and setting of entry/exit criteria
  • Collaborate with developers, project managers and site support to develop and implement effective test strategies and test plans
  • Own and manage the release schedule for all clients/projects/systems
  • Write and execute test scripts and regression test scripts - conduct a wide range of exploratory/informal testing to identify gaps in test scripts
  • Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyse results
  • Manage defects ensuring they are correctly reported, tracked and retested in line with the test plans and scripts. Create logs to document testing phases and defects
  • Report bugs and errors to development teams, and work together to ensure fixes happen and are tested in a timely manner
  • Help troubleshoot issues and tickets
  • Conduct post-release/ post-implementation testing
  • Keep project teams up to date on test progress and escalate issues as and where relevant
  • Own the QA Jira workflow
  • Propose, manage and implement a suite of automated tests and test practices

  • Previous experience in a similar role

  • An understanding and experience of managing release cycles

  • Experience with various test tools and automated testing software
  • Experience with both mobile and web testing
  • Experience with functional testing
  • Strong knowledge of testing methodologies
  • Experience with both Agile/SCRUM/Kanban and Waterfall SDLC processes
